BRAND NEW RELEASE FROM CABERNET RECORDS Midnight Shift was started in 2004 when Mike Mettalia decided
after 15 years of playing sideman to Lehigh Valley, PA area favorites “Crosscut Saw “ and “Illinois Slim“,
it was time to step out front. Within a few short months of gigging the band landed its first road
trip to Charleston, SC. as part of The Low Country Blues Bash. A true highlight was opening for Chicago
blues harp legend Carey Bell on the last show of the tour. That same year the first CD, “Bullet Proof
“, was released to critical acclaim. Their
second CD, ”Rhythm Rockin’ Boogie”, comes from the phrase Mettalia coined describing their infectious blend
of roots music. The new release also includes guest appearances from their good friends: Tommy Conwell
from The Young Rumblers, harmonica legend Steve Guyger and keyboard player Chicago Carl Snyder formerly with Jimmy Johnson
and Junior Wells. The band was also a semi finalist at The International
Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN in 2006 and they have opened up for Rod Piazza, Gary US Bonds, Rick Estrin, Guitar Shorty,
Joe Louis Walker, Little Ed and Asleep at the Wheel. Besides group leader and founder Mike Mettalia, Midnight
Shift includes guitarist Mike McMillan who has been with the group for over four years now. Before joining,
Mike had his own rockabilly band, “The Hi Rev Combo”, and also backed up Billy Lee Riley. On
bass is Paul Pluta, who also comes from a strong rockabilly background playing with, “The Noble Savages“.
On drums is Tim Smith who was also a part of McMillan’s, “Hi Rev Combo“.
Midnight Shift is a smoking hot revved up band that plans to be around for years to come.
